In light of a recent story regarding AVEN permitting users to vocally support fascism, the following statement seems appropriate:

Wikipedia defines fascism as:

a far-right, authoritarian, ultranationalist political ideology and movement, characterized by a dictatorial leader, centralized autocracy, militarism, forcible suppression of opposition, belief in a natural social hierarchy, subordination of individual interests for the perceived good of the nation and race, and strong regimentation of society and the economy.

Several of these items contradict the terms of service:

  • Ultranationalism--Rather than simple nationalism which seeks to maintain the sovereignty of a nation, ultranationalism promotes the control over other nations (often via violent coercion, according to Wikipedia).  As such, supporting ultranationalism is tantamount to supporting terror groups, and is forbidden.
  • Belief in a natural social hierarchy--By its nature, this constitutes a disparaging statement against whichever groups are supposedly at the lower end of this hierarchy.
  • Subordination of individual interests for the perceived good of the nation and race--By its nature, this is a call for collective punishment of those outside the nation and race.

If a member voices support for fascism, we will ask xem to clarify that whatever political system xe supports does not actually include the above three topics.  Failure to comply with the terms of service will merit the censorship/deletion of the post, and in extreme cases where the member's only role as an ACF member is to promote such ideologies, possibly expulsion of the member from ACF.

Of course, this policy is subject to change over time, especially as new moderators join the team.
